09 – Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania is the 7th state that northbound hikers pass through. We entered PA on June 7th, and left it (crossing the Delaware River into New Jersey) on June 25th, covering almost 230 miles in those 19 days.

LongTime takes on the 1/2 gallon challenge (It’s a tradition just past the halfway mark to eat an entire 1/2 gallon of ice cream in one sitting.) Has my tongue turned blue?

At center, the Doyle Hotel in Duncannon, PA. We had heard about this place way back in Georgia! Sure, it’s old, but not as bad as the rumors make it out!

This sign on the doorway into the Doyle Hotel didn’t seem to offend any hikers – we know it’s often true!

Easy hiking, beautiful weather! Where are those rocks we heard about?

The “501 Shelter” – so named as it’s situated where the trail crosses Route 501. Privately owned and formerly a potter’s workshop, from here you can call for pizza delivery – and we did!

Oh, well. Next time we hike the AT, you can do that!
It was nice to see you back in PA! Thanks again for the ride and for eating lunch with us!
